January 19 thru January 25
Surprise!!! No bills passed this week. Just a number of amendments to the Bank Bailout Bill.

1/15 tru 1/18
The only activity here is a number of amendments for the TARP Bill, aka the bank bailout bill. There are a number of these but I am not going to get into them. Some are asinine like the halting of foreclosures for various situations. Some are very sensible like requiring the banks to show what they have done with the funds they have received to date. There are no bills passed for the balance of the week.

1/14 HR2
The SCHIP bill is a bill to provide health care to children living in poverty. This sound great, until you find, as I understand it, a family of 4 making $60000.00 per year qualifies for taxpayer paid health care. Oh did I mention it covers children up to 30? Children, 30? If I were head of a family of four and making $60000.00 per year I would not cover my kids and let the taxpayer ante up. Bottom line is that the law will cover a lot of people that should be on their own, and take responsibility for their own health care. I am sure nobody wants to deny underprivileged children health care, but we need to limit it to the underprivileged. Just remember this and the other coming legislation when you look at your tax bill. DAVID VOTED YES

Lets start with the first week of business January here are the bills that have passed, How David voted, and my take on what it means. Remember at any time you do not think I am right, just post, I always listen.
Here we go January 6 2009 to January 12 2009
1/6 to 1/8 Votes were just procedural matters. Nothing to note
1/9 HR 12
Basically this is a revision to existing legislation to eliminate gender discrimination in the work place. Nothing too earth shattering here. DAVID VOTED YES
1/9 HR11 The Lilly Ledbetter Act. This is just a payback bill for the trail lawyers. Nothing but a vague, unenforceable law. Sure sounds good doesn't it? Lilly Ledbetter lost all the way up the ladder and then was turned down by the Supreme Court. Bottom line is that there was no sex discrimination, Lilly probably did not have the type of performance reviews that would get her the level of pay she wanted. Let's face it, a business would be stupid to base pay differences on anything other than performance. Goodyear is not a stupid company. So here we have a law that just assists trial lawyers that file class action lawsuits, nothing else. DAVID VOTED YES
OK, there you have it. These are the bills passed into law for the first week.

Davis Price how does he vote?
This is my way to track the voting record of David Price, congressman fourth district North Carolina. I have felt for a long time that Congressman Price is so worried about appeasing Nancy Pelosi , the Democratic party, and building a power base that it is time to look at how he votes and, more importantly, does he really represent the best interests of his district? I will be following his votes and trying to post brief explanations of what the vote would mean. I hope to see that this blog is very obvious to people in his district so they can see what David stands for and make an informed decision when it comes time to vote.
If you have any additional information on any of these bills or spot an error on my please email me at beenther1@hotmail.com , but I am not looking for you to justify the bills.

P.S. Here is a link so you can go and see the voting record for yourself.
