Lets start with the first week of business January here are the bills that have passed, How David voted, and my take on what it means. Remember at any time you do not think I am right, just post, I always listen.
Here we go January 6 2009 to January 12 2009
1/6 to 1/8 Votes were just procedural matters. Nothing to note
1/9 HR 12
Basically this is a revision to existing legislation to eliminate gender discrimination in the work place. Nothing too earth shattering here. DAVID VOTED YES
1/9 HR11 The Lilly Ledbetter Act. This is just a payback bill for the trail lawyers. Nothing but a vague, unenforceable law. Sure sounds good doesn't it? Lilly Ledbetter lost all the way up the ladder and then was turned down by the Supreme Court. Bottom line is that there was no sex discrimination, Lilly probably did not have the type of performance reviews that would get her the level of pay she wanted. Let's face it, a business would be stupid to base pay differences on anything other than performance. Goodyear is not a stupid company. So here we have a law that just assists trial lawyers that file class action lawsuits, nothing else. DAVID VOTED YES
OK, there you have it. These are the bills passed into law for the first week.
